...to Nitika, a highly original bear RPG operating since July '08. I know what you're thinking: bears? No worries: we have roleplaying guides and other tools to help you out along the way. Besides, isn't trying something a little different a good thing? We are literate, with a word minimum of three hundred, and a rating of PG-13 for some swearing and violence, among other themes.
Welcome to an RPG with no forms, just roleplay. We have an easy-to-manage, staff operated system that allows you to skip every form you usually have to fill, and instead replace it with roleplaying in an adventure-oriented environment. Staff roleplayed canon characters keep the roleplay going and your muse running, so you never have to worry about getting stuck in a thread alone.
What don't we have to offer? If you're looking for an RPG that's unique, friendly, active, and fun... seems like you've come to the right place.
Overview
warmth for the autumn season has peaked, leaving temperatures in the 60's, an odd stroke for autumn. this is sure not to last long, however.

I'm going to keep it brief. x3
First and foremost, welcome our new staff member: 'Nali! Please give her a pat on the back, she really deserves it. More about that and everything else going on can be found in the latest edition of our newsletter, our third edition. Click here for it.
I want to take a second to thank all of you for being amazing members. <3 You've all been so active and wonderful, you really deserve a reward... let me think of one. (;

important information The very essential information you need to succeed on Nitika is located here. Please view all our rules and regulations before joining and feel free to review them frequently. Everything contained here will, if read, make your stay on Nitika easier for yourself and the staff.
announcements As roleplay games evolve and change, so must Nitika in order to keep up and properly cater to our member's needs. Contests, activity checks, and major announcements will be found here. Smaller updates can be found in the sidetable box.
torture chamber Here, ThoronturUse Thorontur chains her staffers to the walls of the dungeon and forces them to do their staffing duties. Now and again she may speak to them about the future of the site, but for the most part, she enjoys watching them suffer. Perhaps if you're lucky you can appreciate the torture too someday! ^^

character formation Begin your adventure here as you try to get past Vasu, the bear who has taken upon himself the duty to watch over Nitika. You must explain to him your identity and history, and perhaps he will permit you into the land he has always considered sacred. He's a finnicky fellow, so play your cards right and you will get by just fine.

offspring If your characters mate, the expecting couple must come here for a little chat with Amita, the 'matron' bear of sorts on Nitika. She has her ways of prediction... while her theories on due dates and number of cubs are usually very correct, everyone make mistakes.

northernmost reaches
dhaval mountains Frost-coated peaks tower above the lands below. While the rest of the island is bathed in sunlight, the mountain crests are covered in snow. These formations are nearly impossible to scale, and those who attempt it will die trying. However, some ridges jut out from the mountains, and several caves are engraved within.
jaidev sheets Massive, outstretching sheets of solid ice extend out as far as one can see. Their uneven surfaces aren't slippery, despite the ice they're made of, for several feet of snow has clung to the ice, there from the winter. But when the summer comes, it begins to melt, entire sheets crumbling at the fingertips of the sun's rays.
roshan alpine Its towering trees are caked with snow, as the prickly grasses of the floor are light sprinkled with a fine white blanket. The beautiful, dark green tones of forest are delicately covered in white. Many small creatures roam about; mountain goats also come down from the mountains. It's an ideal hunting site for a famished bear.

tundra shreya The tundra is nestled on the northern part of Nitika. It is rather barren and dreary, and cold year-round. For autumn, winter, and spring, Tundra Shreya is a decent sized area with gray grass and several hills. Deer often come here, but few inhabitants are present. In the summer, however, the tundra brings cooling relief, and wildflowers bloom all over.

the human's den
sati Nearly forty years ago, Nitika had been inhabited by the human race. A small Asian village, complete with a bazaar, had existed here, sandwiched peacefully between the plateau and wetlands. The village was quiet, cooperative. But the earthquakes and tsunamis that tore Nitika from Asias mainland destroyed the human population on this piece of land.

city of burned bridges Yet another village, not too far off from Sati, but much smaller in size, resides in Nitika. It is completely wooden, existing over the water on man-made platforms. Amidst a furious lightning storm, it was scorched, and so the bears refer to it as 'the city of burned bridges', a reminder of humans on top of the sea.
gotama shore Here, the waves are merciless: they crash greatly upon the rough sand, the undertoe seeking to drag any passing creature out to see. The sea is vast and the waves quite large, and the sky seems to be forever gray here, and the ocean blue-black too. It's a prime example of the cruelty of the natural world.
underwater city If one can manage to swim out far into the sea --- a feat that is immensely difficult, no doubt --- the water will eventually shallow, and a sand bar just beneath the water's surface can be found. Follow this to its end, and you shall encounter the tops of old, metal buildings just poking out of the sea. They are long rotting, but simply incredibly all the same.

the dividing lands
jayant wetlands The wetlands are a soggy, dangerous place of existence. Grass grows over the murky blue-green water, but beneath the water can often be twelve or more feet deep. It is important to test your footing here --- its not a particularly safe place. Reeds sprout up from the underwater world, while small fish, frogs, and turtles dwell beneath.

malati rapids As the Malati winds throughout Nitika, it grows fierce in one particular spot. This is the Malati Rapids. Rocks jut out from beneath the waters, and accompanied with the fast currents, this part of the river can be dangerous. It is a commonplace to find good food, though. The salmon love this part of the river.
rama bay Clear, pristine, and warm. Just off the coast from Yash Forest, this bay is a beautiful, relaxing place to be. The occasional ray jets through the salt water, and brightly colored fish are always about. The sand is soft, and accompanied by the warm waters, this body of water is both calming and relieving.

yash forest Yash Forest is, mainly, the domain of the great pandas. It provides their only food source --- the bamboo grove --- and is only a matter of yards from the beautiful Rama Bay. The pandas have it good here. They can feast upon the grove, as well as drink fresh water from the Malati.
lavanya forest Its tree are packed tightly together, causing the forest to become somewhat of a maze. The largely preserved forest stretches on for several square miles. But it is a haven for wildlife. A bear could live off the forest itself; its vegetation is so vast. Many edible plants and animals inhabit this place.
indra lake Enveloped snugly by the forest, trees grow around the lake in patterns as if it wasnt there. Over time, the dip in elevation has accumulated much water. The rain keeps the supply even, and so the lake can manage with no rivers attached. The waters are a serene pool, the home of not even fish.
cavern pravin Not far off from the lake, a cavern spiraling deep into the confines of the earth yawns open. Its a long, severe angle of a pathway for a while, but eventually the rock beneath the earth is even. But the cavern is a labyrinth, and it's difficult to get to the warm spring inside.

ila field The expanse of the forest tapers off here, opening to even planes of a field. The grasses are tall and sweeping; wildflowers grow among them, without threatening to overtake the other vegetation here. Frivalous trees are dispersed against the horizon, their flowers accenting sunsets. Deer frolic as do rabbits, with few predators around apart from bears.
ashoka tar pits Black and merciless, this area has the potential to be a life and death battlefield for a passerby. It's not uncommon to come across carcasses atop the pits, So sticky is this substance that avoiding stepping in it is the only way to ensure your survival.

singh fault Years ago, a massive earthquake shook Nitika. The destruction was devastating, but in time the wildlife thrived again. However, the land had been forever scarred: a fault, too deep to see the bottom, had been carved into the terra. Within, it is dark, and a home to snakes and other undesirable creatures. It too has deepened, to more than a thirty-foot drop
devdan deeps Devdan means "gift from the gods" and in this place, truly it is. The one sole opportunity to escape the heat is here. Deep underground, where the tunnels wind, it grows quite cool. Go down far enough, almost to the end, and you may even find it chilly. How are these here? It's unknown, but thankfully for any travelers at that.

the mass graves A more disturbing aspect to the natural disasters that made Nitika this way was that they killed hundreds of people. In a desperate attempt to flee, there was no time to bury the bodies properly... so massive, open graves were filled with huge amounts of bodies. Heat and time has caused decay... filling the air with a horrid smell.

above and beyond
behind the scenes The loyal staff of Nitika are forever plotting its newest feature, its ground-breaking plot, its beautiful new skin. You never know what's around the corner... but what if you could? Exclusive glimpses of what is to come, as well as perks for those of you who may access this board, are enclosed.

emptiness The field is features. Lush green grass coats it in all directions, but the land is entirely flat; there is no other vegetation nor unique traits. It is perhaps the dullest land in all of Nitika. But there is a bear who inhabits this place, one called Lilavati... an elderly legend-spinner you must visit to complete the first leg of your journey. Certainly she will have a story to share, a task for your completion. The rewards? They will be great, well worthwhile, without question.

the plug And as much as Thorontur would like to pull the plug, advertising and affiliating is essential. xD Ignore the administrator's play on words, and instead pop in to drop an ad about your site or request your banner to be displayed on Nitika for all to admire... hopefully. Just post in the right places and use forms!
